ABOUT EGCC PRAGUE SUMMIT

The EGCC Prague Summit is an annual gathering of key European and global Christian funders (representatives of Christian foundations and individual Christian givers) for fellowship and learning about the current needs and strategic Christian initiatives (evangelistic and disciple-making) in Europe.

One of the main objectives of the Summit is to create a safe environment for the givers where they may experience fellowship, encouragement and spiritual growth as well as find their own sense of calling in giving.

Relationships are extremely valuable to us in EGCC. Being united by a shared passion and purpose is what really matters to us. And thus, since it’s inception, EGCC has strived to create a community of like-minded Christian givers who would be passionate about fueling the movement of God in Europe by supporting primarily Great-Commission Kingdom work. We believe that by connecting with other global givers, we can increase our leverage and impact. The theme we have chosen for this year’s event is ​Community Around a Purpose​.

VENUE AND ACCOMMODATION

EGCC Prague Summit 2022 will be held at the Lindner Hotel Prague Castle. With its central location, the hotel is situated near Prague Castle having some of the major historical sites within an easy walking-distance reach.

      Upon submitting your registration and ticket payment, you will be booked into the Lindner Hotel Prague Castle for the nights of April 28/29th and 29/30th (plus any additional nights that you will book directly with the hotel). Check in is at 2 PM, and check out is by 12 PM.

SPEAKERS

Michael Reeves is President and Professor of Theology of Union, in Oxford, UK. He is the author of a number of books, including Delighting in the Trinity and The Unquenchable Flame. His ministry is to raise, deploy and practically support planters and leaders so that the churches of Europe and the world are spiritually healthy, engaged in mission and growing. Michael oversees the work of Union, and teaches in the areas of systematic and historical theology and also on preaching and spiritual formation. He is a local church minister, Director of the European Theologians Network, and speaks and teaches regularly worldwide. Previously he has been Head of Theology for UCCF and an associate minister at All Souls Church, Langham Place, London. He is married to Bethan, and together they have two daughters, Lucy and Mia.

Oana and Ruben Marian are a young family of entrepreneurs from Romania. They founded the UTILBEN company in 2006 and have become one of the market leaders in the industry of Heavy Construction and Agriculture Machinery. They also serve with their time and resources as board members and volunteers in different organizations focused on mission, evangelism and discipleship such as AWANA, GUILD and GLS. Their dream is to scale companies at global level in more industries and also create job opportunities for the young generation so that they could be a model and inspiration for other people in Easter Europe. Ruben and Oana would love to contribute to a positive change in society and  help the community be  transformed by business done with integrity and character. Tomek Bujok and Magdalena Gawłowska-Bujok are entrepreneurs from Poland. Magda is a linguist, translator and entrepreneur. She co-founded the No Fluff Jobs, a job board for IT specialists operating in 6 countries in Europe. Magda has been walking with Jesus since 2002. She is a wife and a mum of two daughters, Lea and Bona. Magda is also an open water swimming & hiking enthusiast whose life motto is “Life is worth as much as it is spent for the Lord’s service” after George Mueller.

Adam Walach is an entrepreneur, businessman and philanthropist living in the Czech Republic. After completing his MA  in Mathematics in 1989, he founded a pharmaceutical company named Walmark with his twin-brother, Valdemar, and older brother, Mariusz. Over the years, Walmark grew to 9 countries, totalling 900 employees. In 2010, the Walach brothers received the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award by Ernst & Young. After selling their company in 2015, Adam and Valdemar founded a new investment firm with the purpose of using their profits for Christian philanthropy in Europe. To raise the impact, Adam and like-minded Christian givers initiated the European Great Commission Collaboration (EGCC), a network of global funders, who aim to invest financially in strategic Christian projects in Europe. Adam enjoys skiing, mountain-biking, jogging and music. He and his wife, Grazyna, have three children and live in the eastern part of Czech.

Sigurd Bekkevold is Executive Pastor at Salt Church, a fast growing multisite church in seven locations in Norway, and a private investor. After completing a MSc in Business Administration with The Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in 2005, Bekkevold served as CFO of Pro Analysis AS, a growing technology company in the global oil services industry. With a passion for reaching new people and planting new churches, his role at Salt Church increased over the years, and in 2016 he followed his dream and went full time into building Salt as a church planting movement. Bekkevold also serves on the Board of Directors in various companies and organizations in Norway, and has been involved in several business start-ups. He and his wife Eirin have three children; David Johannes, Kristiane Sofie and Sara Marie.

Dave Patty has been involved in training youth leaders and leading national and international youth movements in Europe for over 30 years and serves as the president of Josiah Venture. He is also a founding member of Concentric, which mobilizes and equips youth ministry trainers in over 60 countries of the world. Dave is an ordained pastor with a BA in theology and a MA in education. He has also done graduate work in leadership development at Harvard University. For the past 27 years he has lived in the Czech Republic, and spent the 10 years before that in Germany. Dave is married to Connie, and has three grown children, Tyler, Caleb, and Claire. Dave also serves as a board member for EGCC.

Henry Kaestner co-founded the Faith Driven Entrepreneur and Faith Driven Investor ministries, and has been a catalyst behind both movements. He and his team seek to serve faith driven investors, funds, partners, advisors, and entrepreneurs through content and community. Henry is also a Co-Founder and Partner at Sovereign’s Capital, a private equity and venture capital management company that invests in faith driven entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia and the US from its offices in Silicon Valley, Washington DC and Jakarta, Indonesia. Prior to co-founding Sovereign’s Capital, Henry was Co-founder and previous CEO, and then Chairman, of Bandwidth (NASDAQ:BAND) and its sister company, Republic Wireless (which spun out of Bandwidth in 2016). Together the companies have grown from $0 to more than $400 million in revenue. Henry has been involved in a number of other ministries and philanthropic activities. He co-founded DurhamCares, was a founding Board Member of Praxis, and sits on a variety of business and ministry boards. With his wife Kimberley and their three sons Henry lives in Los Gatos, CA.

Wojciech Kowalewski is founder and the President of Golden Apple Institute based in Poland, organisation whose mision is to equip leaders to be disciple-makers at home, church and in the maketplace. He is an ordained pastor with a PhD in Practical Theology from the University of Wales in Cardiff, UK. His doctoral thesis was published uder the title “Transforming Mission in Post Communist context: Towards an Integrative Approach”. He is the author of numerous international and Polish publications, both academic and popular. He speaks at numerous academic and marketplace conferences on leadership development, communication and discipleship in every aspect of life. He facilitates Leadership Forum and leads training programs such as School for Speakers, School of Biblical Discipleship and Billy Graham’s Institute of Evangelism and Discipleship. He also co-leads Year-Round Mentoring for Disiciple-Making Leaders at the European Leadership Forum. He is experienced executive coach and mentor to many leaders and his mission is helping people to get from where they are to where God wants them to be. He is passionate about raising generosity movevement and serves as regional director for EGCC in Poland. He and his wife, Agnieszka, live in Wroclaw, Poland.

John Cortines oversees the Maclellan Foundation’s investments and strategies to catalyze a global movement of generosity among all believers. He began his career as a Petroleum Engineer with Chevron. While at Harvard Business School, he encountered a radical call from God to reframe his perspective on generosity and ultimately shift his career into the nonprofit sector. He previously served for five years at Generous Giving, most recently as COO. John is the coauthor of two books on biblical generosity (God and Money, and True Riches) which together have over 50,000 copies in circulation. John lives in Florida with his lovely and gracious wife Megan and their five children. They also manage a flock of egg-laying hens (11, as of the most recent poultry census). John holds a MBA, MS in Geophysics, and BS in Chemical Engineering.

Emanuel and Bianca Bistrian are entrepreneurs from Romania. Emanuel is the Generosity Path Executive Director. He is the Founder of European American Investment Group (EAIG) and Founder and CEO of the award-winning company Westfield Development which is revolutionising the real estate market in Romania by blending the comfort of a US suburb with the strong sense of community found in most European cities. Emanuel is also the President of GiveFirst Foundation which aims to catalyse a strategic generosity movement in Romania and become a source of inspiration to business leaders looking to merge faith and work. Additionally, he serves on multiple boards promoting generosity in Europe. Prior to his work in Romania, Emanuel owned a construction company in Dallas TX, where he also invested in real estate. It is this experience, coupled with his passion for technology, innovation, and product design, which have formed the foundations of his work today. Emanuel and his wife Bianca live in Cluj, Romania, with their four children.

Dusan Drabina serves as a vice-chairman on the EGCC Board. After earning his MA in International Affairs from University of Economics in Prague, he got his Diploma in Business Administration from Sheffield Hallam University. Dusan started his professional career in Prague, in the finance department of the T-Mobile company. In 2004, he followed God’s calling to join Josiah Venture, a mission organization focused on reaching and discipling youth of Central & Eastern Europe. In 2012, Dusan initiated a meeting of Adam Walach and other Czech Christian givers. This meeting eventually led to the start of the Czech Donors Forum, which was followed by the first assembly of EGCC Prague Summit in 2016. Dusan’s passion is to see a revival in the mountain valley where he was born and now serves as an elder in a local church. Dusan is married to Dana and together they raise two daughters, Abigail and Magdalena.

On Friday night, April 29th, we will have a chance to taste not only delicious food, but also an outstanding cultural experience in the heart of Prague. Located just steps away from Prague’s Old Town Sq., we will be dining at the Grandhotel Bohemia  which is famous for its beautiful historical neo-baroque ballroom. We are delighted that Ms. Sophia Lamoš and Mr. Daniel Klansky along with their colleagues have accepted our invitation to join us for the night and will lead us into the charm of their music art. 

Sophia Lamoš & jazz brothers

Sophia Lamoš is a Czech, Austrian-born jazz singer. In 2010, she moved to Prague, where she soon entered the Czech music scene. In 2012, Sophia did a solo performance with Prague Film Orchestra in Prague’s Rudolfinum and has also collaborated with foreign stars such as Lorenzo Thompson (Chicago) or Chuck Wansley (Los Angeles).  In 2021 Sophia released her debut album My Favourite Things. Sophia Lamoš is famous for her brilliant and authentic interpretation of the early 1920 Art déco music era. Just close your eyes, listen and welcome to Prague in one of the most impressive eras of the 19th century.

Daniel Klansky sings Frank Sinatra

Daniel Klansky is a prestigious opera singer who also devotes himself to jazz swing and especially admires the work of Frank Sinatra.  With this repertoire, he performed with leading Czech big bands and some jazz groups, for example in Prague’s Lucerna Music Hall. He is a gentleman with a velvet voice. Welcome to the time where a man is a real gentleman.
